College Spotlight

The students from Prairie Bible Institute’s Explore program have put away their winter gear in exchange for some educational and experiential training. Following their winter skills rotations the Explore students were able to host a small group of Boy Scouts to put their training to the test. Fully equipped with both the technical skills of running a camp as well as the ministry and spiritual focus the students not only made it through the week, but created some life impacting moments for the group of Boy Scouts that attended. The whole experience was also very powerful for the students as they wrestled through what it really means to do ministry in a camp environment. For many it was a let down to only hear that 8 kids were coming to the camp. But the small group provided the perfect opportunity for the Explore students to deeply invest into some lives in a way that would not have been possible had their been 40 kids. This is just one example of how the environment of Camp Bighorn is creating the next generation of Christian leaders.

Since the practicum the students have been running through a Wilderness First Responder Course. This is one of the premier outdoor first aid courses offered and the students are being equipped with important industry standard first aid training so that they will be ready to deal with a whole variety of scenarios. The class time has been split up between lecture and hands on training. Being a leader in the outdoors requires plenty of training and we are thankful for the opportunity we have to train all of the Explore students with excellent, hands on, medical training.
