Hello, we are Gabriel and Melissa Joy Duke!

I am Gabe, and I was raised in Washougal, Washington.  Among other things I especially enjoy backpacking, snowshoeing, dirt-biking, and spending time with Melissa.  Melissa was raised in Saint Francis, Minnesota.  Some of her favorite activities include backpacking, working with youth, playing guitar or banjo, and hanging out with me.   We were both raised in Christian homes, believe Jesus Christ to be our savior, and do our best to live in a way that reflects that reality.

Melissa and I met at Prairie Bible Institute in August of 2009.  We were both a part of the wilderness leadership program called Explore.  Our program was composed of three teams of about seven students each, and although Melissa and I were not on the same team we spent most of our year in close proximity to each other.  We started dating in December 2009 because we both greatly enjoy each other’s friendship, and agree on all but the most trivial aspects of life.  Since finishing school we have been back and forth between Washington and Minnesota visiting family and friends.

We were married in December and after raising financial support we began working as Facilities Managers.  Basically our ministry is to keep the camp in functioning order, and to expand current facilities in order to give camp the ability to effectively minister to the people who come to use it.  We feel that God has called us to serve in this ministry for the time being because of the ability that we have to effectively do the things that the position requires of us, and because of the opportunity that it will give us to witness to and learn from others.
