Serving here at Bighorn is an answer to years of praying for me. I grew up on the east coast and eventually went to college, studying with the goal of overseas missions in mind. Though overseas Christian service usually looks really good in people’s eyes, it became clear after graduation that my motives for such a pursuit were all about Josh and not really about Jesus. I moved home instead and started working in the construction field. Those four years at home were a blessing of time invested with my family and friends there, as well having the opportunity to serve the youth at my church. I discovered in that time that I really loved teaching people to live lives of faith. I also found I naturally used the outdoors as a tool for that purpose.
After years of praying for direction, when the time was just right (Habakkuk 2:3), God passed on word about a program called Explore (through Prairie Bible College) that taught people to use the wilderness as a tool for teaching faith. That was it! He opened up the opportunity for me to leave home and enrole in that program. Through Explore I was introduced to Bighorn and came on as staff that following year. That was June of 2007 that I started working here for the Program Team. In March of 2009 I became the director of that team. It’s a definite learning process for me being in that role, but the heart behind the ministry is the same either way; I desire to see people walk the faith, not just talk it. I’m thankful for the opportunity to be here at Bighorn using the tools we have towards that end!
